Multiculturalism

Words are a powerful weapon. Jews, in particular, have suffered as the word “Jew” has historically been used to convey a negative stereotype. A new word “multiculturalism”, has become the great catchall that has shown the capacity to both negatively impact Israel and to sweep up western culture as we know it. “Multiculturalism” is a word that is used almost exclusively to defend minorities by advancing their victim status with the intent of offsetting the success of western culture. As a word “multiculturalism” has become a free ticket for minorities to status equal to the dominate culture in any given society. “Multiculturalism” has been used most effectively by Muslims in Britain to erode western values by putting the entire English establishment on the defensive. Fear of being labeled an Islamophobe has put those who once championed their own western values into a full retreat setting Islam on a course of becoming dominant in England. Israel has born the brunt of “multiculturalism” as its treatment of Palestinians is portrayed as “racism” by the likes of Jimmy Carter who conjure up the guilt of our own history. In addition, churches, universities, and unions are divesting from Israel, as they rally for the Palestinian cause under the banner of “multiculturalism”. Christians and Jews United for Israel (CJUI) “Multicultural Face of Zionism” advertising campaign is intended to counter the blasphemous lie that Israel’s defense against Palestinian terrorism is merely racism. Our campaign is a battle for the “hearts and minds” of Americans who have only been hearing one message about Israel. Ultimately, Israel’s best hope is that the truth will be told. In this case, the truth is best told by a culturally diverse group of respected leaders. The advertisement will appear in select Christian print media targeting the members of such church groups as the New England Methodists who have recently announced their divestment plans. In addition, ads will be placed in the Jewish media to put Israel in a greater human context to reign in those Jews who have turned away from or against Israel because of their inherent liberal bias. The ads will also be a vehicle to increase the membership and funding for CJUI’s activist programs. We can not allow Israel’s enemies to exclusively own “multiculturalism”. It is tantamount to the nuclear weapon of words and its effect, as proven by what has happened in England, can be devastating. There were few successes in combating the forces of evil during the Holocaust. However, Hollywood producer, Ben Hecht’s series of ads in the New York Times stood out as being singularly effective in generating an activist spirit in the form of massive rallies in Madison Square Garden and on Fifth Avenue which themselves became one of the few front page Holocaust stories in the New York Times. Just like the rounding up of Jews in Europe should have signaled the doom that was to follow, today’s submission of Britain to the semantic treachery of “multiculturalism” and the labeling of Israel as an apartheid and racist state is the war of words that presages far worse.
